This morning I flew into Nashville, TN (which I did not know was in the Central Time Zone) and proceeded to the rental car desk. The guy asked me if I wanted to upgrade my car to one with cruise control for $8 more per day. That was a shock. I can't get the upgrade, because I won't get reimbursed, and now I know I have to drive 3 hours without cruise control. It's not like I haven't used a car on long trips without cruise control, but I was using a Ford Focus. Those things are uncomfortable to drive for long distances pushing the unresponsive gas pedal. What a piece of shit.
Crappy car aside, I had a majestic trip. I-40 is lined with trees the entire way from Nashville to Memphis. On top of that, it was foggy. I love fog. It was so peaceful. I never knew Tennessee had it in her. I guess it's been a long time since I've been here.
But then, reality set in...I had to work. I hope my drive back is as peaceful as the ride there.
P.S. Cottonmouth, return my call please.

Things and Stuff
I think I know what I want to do with my life. I want to drive a car really fast and recklessly. I would have the time of my life just being a stunt driver. Sure I could get hurt, but I don't care. If I could drive a car with total disregard for everything, within the aspect of a scripted event, it would be an euphoric experience for me. Fast and Furious wasn't the greatest flick in the world, but the driving is top notch and that is what I want to do. I want to drive. Drive fast. Drive fun. Crash things. Have fun. That's what life should be about, having fun.
Hotel bars suck. They are expensive, boring, and almost never better than any other bar. Their only upside is convenience. They are located in the hotel, so you can get drunk and walk (err, stumble) back to your room. But if you get that drunk, it would be like $50. Fuck you hotel bars!
Nancy Grace needs a better job. She's been talking about the same story for at least 2 months now. Literally! Every time I pass by the channel she's on, it's ALWAYS the same story. Why does she have a fucking show?! She's not even attractive. She's an ugo with a big mouth. How does she have a show!?

I Don't Like This Trend...
The auto industry is tanking, gasoline has its limits, and I don't have the money to have fun.
I know you guys don't really care about cars that much, but I'm going to rant anyways. The Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency (CAFE) standards are going to rise to 35mpg across all cars and trucks by the year 2020. While this is an amazing thing for the environment, it also shows a sign of the death of exotics and sports cars. And to me, the death of a certain fun. The way the industry is now, it shows only a little promise for fun electric/hybrid cars in the future. While the effort is there, right now I just don't see it happening. Also, the styling for much of these cars (right now all concepts), look futuristic but so much so that they aren't really pleasing to the eye. Why do they have to be so over the top? I don't get it.
I haven't had much change to toy around with a really fun car (the Biz's being an exception), but I hope to have my chance with something fun before I die, or gasoline is no more (if that happens in my lifetime). I would kill for my chance to drive a 1970 Dodge Challenger or a Ferrari F430. Hopefully someday I'll be able to own one and have some fun before its basically extinct. Kids of the 60s and 70s who grew up with my some of my favorite cars can't have all the fun, that's just not fair.
I do hope I'm wrong though. 2020 is a long way away. I hope there's some genius out there making a 500hp engine that gets 40mpg.
Well, no one cares but me.
Now get off my lawn.

I Need $5000, STAT!
There's this company called Supercar Life that lets you test a Porsche 911 Turbo, Lamborghini Gallardo, Ferrari F430 (probably my favorite supercar of all time), Mercedes-Benz CLK63 Black Series, and an Aston Martin DB9 on a closed track. So that means you can take those fucking awesome cars and drive them like they are meant to be driven...FAST AS FUCK! Granted, that's a steep price to drive an automatic (BOOOOOOOOOOO!) supercar, but you get an opportunity of a lifetime. I'd rather own one of these cars at some point in my life, but for now this is the closest I might be able to get to actually driving one of these.

Finally Dodge Does Something Right
Unveiled a couple of days ago at the New York Auto Show, Dodge announced 2 new versions of the Challenger!!! A basic SE with a V6, which will compete with the V6 Ford Mustang and probably a V6 version of the new Camaro coming out soon. The next model is the legendary R/T, with the 5.7L Hemi V8 with an increased horsepower rating of 375! That should blow away the Mustang GT and V8 Camaro. The best part...they finally are including a manual transmission! I hope this is a step in the right direction where our dumbass American automakers will start putting manuals back into cars. Starting at around $20,000, these Challengers should be a great alternative to the SRT-8 model that is valued at $40,000, which by the way has no manual transmission...how lame. Thank you, Dodge, for finally bringing out versions of these cars that I might actually be able to afford.

Muscle Cars and Kiznox's Insane Theories
So Kiznox and I were watching Death Proof the other day. I don't really remember how the conversation was started, but it resulted in Kiznox telling me that the Chevy Nova (60s-70s era) was not a muscle car. He says that it was too much of a family car and it had no style. Well I got news for ya, bro. Most of the muscle cars from that era were family sedans that were modified to be sport coupes. Also, just because you don't like the Nova (I could care less for it as well) doesn't mean that it wasn't a muscle car. I don't understand why you, for once in your life, can't accept that you are WRONG! Just because you say it wasn't a muscle car because it lacks style doesn't mean it wasn't a muscle car. A muscle car from that era was embodied in a car like the Nova. Muscle cars were just big chunks of metal that were crudely shaped, loud, and had an obscenely huge engine. That classified a muscle car. That classified a Nova.

Well, anyways, Novas suck. Someone bring me a Challenger!

My Elbow Hurts
My elbow hurts because I've been borrowing my Gma and Gpa's 1997 manual turbodiesel Dodge Ram and the steering sucks - like to the point where I have to use all of the force in my arms and all of my body weight to have any hope of making even a ridiculously wide right turn. Turning left is not nearly as bad, but still a pain. When I became concerned, Gpa just said it was "the nature of the beast."
Being the greasemonkey I sometimes enjoy being, I decided to pop the hood and take a look. First thing I notice? The giant pile of corrosion surrounding the positive terminal on the battery... but that wasn't really any concern of mine, I'm taking it back tomorrow (I'll tell Gpa about it though).
However, when I looked in the power steering fluid reservoir, I was surprised to find...
absolutely nothing.
The goddam thing was completely dry. Nature of the beast my ass
So I visited my local neighborhood Target and bought some steering fluid, and lo and behold, all of the sudden I can turn without continually injuring my elbow... If I hadn't listened to my Gpa, that would have been the first thing I checked. That's what I get for paying attention.
The moral of this story? Do not respect your elders, because you know better than them.

p.s. I love and cherish my grandparents, they are wonderful, intelligent, fascinating people. Just not this time.

Back to the Future...Again!
No, the movie isn't being remade. This is all about bringing back the true icon of the film, the DeLorean. I love that car and I want one. Sure it was slow as hell and weighs a couple of tons, but damn, it's a sweet looking car.

2 Wheeled Wonder
I want a motorcycle, dammit! Especially after reading this article. A motorcycle is not only an awesome ride and great freedom, it is also an amazing way to get around while paying a very little amount of money to gas it up. Yes, there are risks, like falling off or getting hit by a car, but who fucking cares? It's like driving a race car, legally, and with more scenery. I would love to take a motorcycle and just cruise for hours. I'm sure I'd love it. This could probably stem from my dad, who has had a Harley Davidson for as long as I can remember, and it looks like a joy to ride. I need a motorcycle, because I'm over miles on my leased Jeep and it would keep the miles down and my wallet will actually have money in it from saving at the pump. Fucking SUVs. If I can own a H-D V-Rod, the new Fat Bob (wtf?), or a Yamaha YZF-R1 once in my life (hopefully tomorrow...I'm keeping my fingers crossed), I will probably drive it all day, everyday. Dammit, I need some money.
