Fuck You, Billy Corgan...

An interesting reason to think that Billy Corgan is a completely irreverent, pompous, ridiculous, self-appreciative, narcissistic, bloated asshole. I truly hope that the new Smashing Pumpkins album bombs. I know, I know, it probably wont because the audience that they are reaching for is going to but the disc. Hell, it is, after all, a collection of music made for a "teenage flock." It is one thing to market to the younger crowd, the crowd that thrives in the rebellious nature of the music scene, but another thing entirely to consider your consumer base nothing more than a bunch of sheep.

Here is a portion of a letter that the leader of the Smashing Pumpkins wrote to the music world...

"Here is what you must understand: Nothing has changed since 1999, except my budget. And Pro Tools. I am still the same alt-rock messiah I was. You are still my teenage flock."

Granted, I do like a bunch of their older music(circa 1979)...but should the artist openly admit his disdain for the very people that enable him to continue to make music. Also, it would have been nice for him to at least fess up to the fact that a HUGE reason he is getting the band back together is that all of his side-projects were complete disasters. He does, but only mildly, putting as much spin on their fuck-ups as possible.

In essence: Fuck you, Billy Corgan.
