I've never done this before.
I got stoned so now I'm going to review the new Freezepop album while I listen to it for the first time.
1) Less Talk More Rokk - The Guitar Hero 2 standard is revamped significantly for the album - and with excellent results. Funky sound effects and a beefed up background track give it an almost majestic feeling that is not achieved in the original. Also sweet: the bass-heavy breakdown in the bridge...
2) Pop Music Is Not a Crime - A low-fi ballade starts simply and slowly, and gains momentum as it goes. Is it obvious even at this point that Freezepop can grow up musically while keeping their youth and charm. This music is just fun.
3) Frontload - A darker rocker that is almost uncharacteristic of Freezepop. Great build-up at the end.
4) Thought Balloon - A charming shy love ballade. So cute you can't help but enjoy it.
5) Ninja of Love - A fast-paced, awesome opening lick brings you out of the daze from the last track. The refrain is short, but really catchy, and the final stretch of the song has another great build up.
6) Brainpower - Not really sure about this one... A kind of screamy effect does not compliment liz enthusiasm's voice well. The end of the song is pretty cool though.
7) Do You Like My Wang ? - Catchiest riff of the album so far introduces also possibly the funniest song on the album. The background synthesiser in this song is just awesome. And the bridge rocks. All-around amazing track. Ridiculous lyrics though.
8) He Says She Says - I have one word for you: Amplitude. This song would be impossible. And it is absolutely fantastic. I bet this song would be absolutely amazing live. I want to see them if they come near us on tour (probably Chicago), btw. It'd be awesome. Dance party.
9) Do You Like Boys? - A hilarious ballade from a girl to her possibly closeted best friend.
10) Swimming Pool - Slow and meditative with huge rises and falls in crescendo. For some reason I feel like this song would be awesome to hear while tripping.
11) Afterparty - A groovy bass riff brings in this highlight of the cd. It comes out of almost nothing and quickly escalates to the best dance groove of th cd - I dare you to not dance. Because if you don't, you suck. The lyrics are great, the build-ups are amazing
Overall, I think this is a worthy addition to anyone's collection. Although somewhat less light-hearted than its predecessors, Future Future Future Perfect shows Freezepop being very experimentative, with exciting results. It's still defiintely Freezepop, and it makes me very happy to hear.
