Not that I wouldn't...

Because I kind of think it might be sexy as hell to do this one day...but this guy sure has his issues with it.

*Check out the thread underneath his post...wow.

And speaking of The Stranger, which I constantly, consistently, and rabidly do, I wish that Detroit had something along the lines of SIFF. Seattle has a magnificent film festival that lasts roughly a week, which is currently getting a ton of coverage on the Slog. Envy? Yeah, reeking of green over here. (and here is where it completely turns into a rant) So many coffee/arthouse flicks, so very far away, and no reason for any of these films to come to Detroit as the city is a place of gunshot wounds, cracked roads, crack pipes, and laid off workers. Could we please declare the Metro Detroit Area a disaster zone and get some Federal Government help? Pretty please? I just want to see this area be more than a bastion of run-down suburbs and paranoia, of uber trendy club music and overpriced beer, of failing business and no sense of community. I want to see this area become the place that it has the ability to be. Somewhere that people give a shit about more than sports scores and the ever displeasing "what does this do for me?" attitude. This attitude seems to be a huge reason for the boom of young people leaving the area. Hell, this attitude is a major factor for the reason that I will be leaving the area as soon as fucking possible. This city, and the areas surrounding it, is actively dying. Somebody call Hospice, because the people need the meds to whither away as comfortably as possible.

It could be worse, we could be FLORIDA:
