In defense of the Germans...

...I hope that the intention was to take the idea that children in Africa are the same as children in Europe, just a different color.

I can't POSSIBLY imagine that any branch of Unicef would be stupid enough to publish something so blatantly racist if that were the intention...

However it does bring up an interesting debate - is "black face" racist because it's actually demeaning to black culture, or because there was a point in American history that it was used deliberately to mock African Americans? I will make no attempt to choose one side or the other (I'm a very nondiscriminant person) but it's interesting to think about... Everyone remember the South Park episodes where Token is in "white face?"
